About
The Town of Lake City, Colorado and Hinsdale County established the Hinsdale County Regional Library District by joint resolution in 1979. The library, doing business as the Lake City/John Wagner Public Library, is a taxing district that collects tax revenues for the operation of the library.
Other funding sources are donations, grants and special projects. In 1995, the Friends of the John Wagner Library, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, was formed as a support and service provider for the library.
We are a public lending library containing more than 14,000 printed volumes, over 300 audio books, 400 DVDs, and three dozen periodical subscriptions. We also offer young adult and children's collections, large print volumes, and a local history collection. You can search for items in the collections via our Public Access Database.
In addition to the physical collections, we provide the following services and programs:
- e-book lending through OverDrive E-book Services
- inter-library loan services. If we don't have the book you need, we can borrow titles from our extensive network of libraries.
